Legal basis 

Legal basis for carrying out the Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings is the Law on Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings that is adopted right before the start of carrying out the census. The law regulates the rules on preparation, organization, and carrying out the Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings, aimed at obtaining the comprehensive data on population, households, and dwellings.

Statistical Office has prepared the draft Law on Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings, while the public discussion and proposal of law is under the competence of Ministry of Finance and Social Welfare, as the proposer of the law.

Aim of survey

Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings is a statistical survey that is carried out every ten years aimed at obtaining the data on total number of population, main demographic, education, economic, and other characteristics of main census units (persons, households, and dwellings) up to the lowest territorial level (settlement).

The census provides comprehensive, quality, and international comparable data that are very important for creation of macroeconomic, social, educational policy, etc.
