Detailed description: The Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) is the basic classification used for publishing data in foreign trade statistics.

It is widely used for analytical purposes and is harmonized with the Harmonized System (HS). SITC Rev.3 was applied from 1 January 1988, while SITC Rev.4 has been in use since 1 January 2010.
