The release presents the results of the 2023 Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings on number and structure of enumerated Montenegrin citizens working, studying or staying abroad.
Pursuant to the Methodology for Preparation, Organization, and Implementation of Census, and in addition to the population of Montenegro by usual place of residence, there were enumerated citizens of Montenegro working, studying or staying abroad for more than one year or intending to be absent for more than one year, and in period of census implementation were in Montenegro or had a present household member who was able to provide data for that person.
According to the results of the 2023 Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings, there were enumerated 44 017 persons with the citizenship of Montenegro, working, studying or staying abroad.
The largest numbers of enumerated Montenegrin citizens are working, studying or staying in Germany (10 413 persons).
The smallest numbers of enumerated persons working, studying abroad are from Podgorica (6 384 persons).
