Monthly inflation in July was +1.1%, while the annual inflation up to +2.2%
Monthly inflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was +1.1% in July. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of accommadation services; fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment; tobacco; milk, cheese and eggs; electricity; meat and telephone and telefax services. Annual inflation in July was +2.2%, and it is higher than in June, when it was +1.5%.
The growth of inflation rate was also generated by rising VAT from 17% to 19%.
When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+4.0%); Restaurants and Hotels (+3.5%); Transport (+2.2%); Miscellaneous goods and service (+1.4%); Communications (+1.1%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.9%); Health (+0.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.3%); Recreation and culture (+0.2%), while a drop of prices was recorded in group Clothing and footwear (-1.8%).
Positive annual inflation rates in July were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+7.0%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.2%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+3.7%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+2.8%); Health (+2.1%); Transport (+0.7%); Education (+0.2%); while negative annual inflation rates were observed in groups: Restaurants and Hotels (-3.9%); Clothing and footwear (-1.8%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.4%); Communications (-1.4%); Recreation and culture (-0.7%).
