19.05.2014Monthly deflation in April was -0.1%
Monthly deflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was -0.1% in April. This was influenced mostly by decrease in prices of: fruit; meat; milk, cheese and eggs; vegetables; other food products and solid fuels.
When observing the main groups, monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.7%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.2%), while a growth of prices was recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (+1.7%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.2%) and Transport (+0.2%).
European Union annual inflation was 0.8% in April 2014, up from 0.6% in March, while Euro area annual inflation was 0.7%, up from 0.5% in March. In Montenegro, in April 2014, consumer prices measured by the HICP, compared with the same month last year were lower for -0.8%.
Positive annual inflation rates in April were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+7.0%); Health (+2.5%); Transport (+1.6%); Restaurants and Hotels (+1.3%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+1.2%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.2%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Communications (-4.3%); Clothing and footwear (-3.9%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.4%); Recreation and culture (-2.7%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.3%).
