Monthly inflation measured by Consumer price index was +0.3% in May, while the annual inflation was -1.3%, up from -1.4% in April. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of: vegetables; milk, cheese and eggs; fruit; actual rentals; meat; accommodation services.
When observing the main groups monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.0%); Restaurants and hotels (+1.0%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.7%); Recreation and culture (+0.1%), while a drop of prices is recorded in groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.4%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.3%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.1%). Prices in groups: Clothing and footwear; Health; Transport; Communications; Education, remained at the same level as in the previous month.
Positive annual inflation rates in May were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+5.4%); Health (+2.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+2.1%);Transport (+1.8%); Restaurants and hotels (+0.7%); Clothing and footwear (+0.3%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Recreation and culture (-4.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.6%); Communications (-3.0%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-2.0%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.3%).
