Pre-primary education and child care 2014/2015

In Montenegro there are 34 pre-primary institutions of which 21 institutions are public and 13 are private, with the network of 118 child care units, within which there were organised 568 child care groups.

In school year 2014/2015 there were 17 091 enrolments of children in pre-primary institutions. Of this number, 46.7% were girls. There is an increase of 3.8% in number of children enrolled compared with school year 2013/14. In public institutions there were 97.3% children enrolled.

In public pre-primary institutions an average number of children per child care group is 31, while this average is 10 in private pre-school institutions. The highest average number of children per child care group is in Podgorica, and it is 41.

The highest average number of children per child-care worker is in Plav and Gusinje, and it is 21. Of the total number of employed in the pre-primary institutions, 55.0% are child-care workers.
