Primary production of coal in Montenegro in 2017 was 1 474.8 thousand tons, 55.2 thousand tons brown coal and 1 419.6 thousand tons of lignite.

Total final consumption of coal in 2017 was 42.5 thousand tons, 24.9 thousand tons consumed in industry, while 17.6 thousand tons consumed in other sectors. For electricity production, as transformation input was used 53.1 thousand tons brown coal and 1 287.2 thousand tons lignite.
