In 2018 Montenegro produced 330 839 tonnes of municipal waste or an increase of 2.1% compared to 2017. Considering the estimated number of inhabitants on mid of the 2018, in Montenegro in 2018 an average municipal waste produced per capita was 531.7 kg or 1.46 kg municipal waste per day.

In Montenegro out of the total quantities of produced municipal waste there were collected 303 107 tonnes. The public utility enterprises collected 291 431 tons of municipal waste which is 96.1%. The remaining quantities of municipal waste is: quantities collected by other enterprises with the permit for collecting and quantities of municipal waste brought by citizens directly to the landfill sites. In 2018 there were collected 487.1 kg of municipal waste per capita or 1.33 kg per day.

In 2018, public utility enterprises mostly collected other municipal waste (245 667 tonnes), and the least packaging waste (105 tonnes).
