Number of livestock and poultry, production of milk, wool and eggs in Montenegro
In Montenegro, the numerical state of livestock on 1 December 2022, compared to 1 December 2021, records a decrease in the total number of cattle and sheep. The total number of cattle is 70 765 , which is 0.6% less than last year. The trend of decrease in the total number of dairy cows is still continuing, by 2.1%. Compared to the last year, there is a decrease in the total number of sheep in sheep farming by 2.7%, while the number of milking sheep is lower by 0.7%. The number of goats is at the same level as in 2021.
The total number of pigs records an increase of less than 1%, compared to the last year, and is 24 514. The trend of growth (48.3%) is recorded in the number of gilts. The total number of poultry in 2022 is higher by 43.5%. The largest share is held by laying hens, with the total number 821 679, and compared to the last year, it records a growth of 56.4%.
