Monthly deflation in December was -0.3%, while the annual inflation down to +5.1%


Monthly deflation measured by Consumer price index was -0.3% in December, while annual inflation down to +5.1%. This was influenced mostly by the decrease in prices of clothing and footwear; fuels and lubricants; fruit and vegetables and transport services.

When observing the main groupsmonthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Clothing and footwear (-1.7%); Transport (-1.7%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.7%); Recreation and culture (-0.4%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.2%); Restaurants and hotels (-0.1%); while a growth of prices is recorded in groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.6%); Health(+0.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.2%); Communications (+0.1%). Prices in the groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco; Education, remain at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in December were observed in the following groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+11.6%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+10.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.9%); Clothing and footwear (+3.9%); Communications (+3.3%); Recreation and culture (+3.2%); Hotels and restaurants (+2.0%); Health (+0.7%); Transport (+0.5%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Miscellaneous goods and services (-2.6%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.5%).
