Consumer price index (CPI) March 2013


Monthly inflation in March was +0.4%, while the annual inflation was stable at +3.3%

Monthly inflation measured by Consumer price index was +0.4% in March, while annual inflation stay stable at +3.3%. This was influenced mostly by the increase in clothing; footwear; meat; fruit; milk, cheese and eggs and other food products.

When observing the main groups monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Clothing and footwear (+4.0%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (+0.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.4%); Restaurants and hotels (0.1%); while a drop of prices is recorded in groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.2%); Transport (-0.2%); Recreation and culture (-0.1%). Prices in the groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; Health; Communications; Education; Miscellaneous goods and services remain at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in March were observed in the following groups: Clothing and footwear (+8.4%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+5.0%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.7%); Recreation and culture (+3.7%); Communications (+3.5%); Health (+1.9%); Hotels and restaurants (+1.9%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.8%); while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Miscellaneous goods and services (-2.3%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-2.2%); Transport (-0.1%).
