Monthly inflation in May was +0.5%, while the annual inflation down to +2.1%
Monthly inflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was +0.5% in May. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of vegetables; fruit; non-durable household goods; accommodation services and tobacco. Annual inflation in May was +2.1%, and it is lower than in April, when it was +2.4%.
When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+1.5%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (+1.4%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.2%); Restaurants and Hotels (+1.1%); Recreation and culture (+0.6%); Health (+0.3%), while a drop of prices was recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (-4.2%); Communications (-1.4%); Transport (-0.3%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.1%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.1%).
Positive annual inflation rates in may were observed in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.9%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+4.9%); Clothing and footwear (+3.8%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+3.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+2.3%), Health (+1.5%); Communications (+1.1%); Education (+0.2%); while negative annual inflation rates were observed in groups: Transport (-4.3%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.1%); Restaurants and Hotels (-0.4%); Recreation and culture (-0.2%).
