METADATA
The term 'statistical metadata' refers to information that makes a statistical figure understandable. The most common definition is: 'Metadata are data about data'.
The focus of the MONSTAT metadatabase is on reference metadata, which according to the various international metadata frameworks, describe and define the content of the data. Reference metadata covered by this system are located into the following modules:
- Surveys and data collections,
- Concepts and definitions.
