Legal basis for conducting statistical surveys in the area of water statistics is Law on Official Statistics and Official Statistical System of Montenegro (Official Gazette of Montenegro 18/12).

 

 

Purpose of water statistics surveys that cover four surveys is to collect, process, and disseminate the data on: water volume abstracted and used, and waste water in the industry; water volumes used for the irrigation in agriculture; drinking water supplied to settlements; discharged waste water volumes; facilities for waste water treatment, and sewage system.

 

The data sources for water statistics are accounting records and other types of records, and documentation possessed by reporting unit. In a case that there is no appropriate records and documentation for some data, the data are obtained by using the estimation of experts. 

 

Water statistics covers business entities in the following sectors (areas):

• Industry sector and local units from other sector performing industry activity;

• Agricultural production, hunting, and services, as well as local units engaged in irrigation;

• Water collection, purification, and distribution, and discharging waste water.

 

Statistical confidentiality is guaranteed. Results obtained through surveys are only used for statistical purposes, and they are published at the aggregated level.
