Survey on Income and Living Conditions - News
- At the beginning of 2022, an IT company was hired to help developing the CAPI method of data collection for the Survey on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC). The aim of this activity is to change the ‘face-to-face’ interview-based EU-SILC data collection from paper and pencil interviewing - PAPI method to computer-based interviewing - CAPI method. This change impacts on reducing the time necessary for entering and processing of data, and in the same time to minimize questionnaire entering errors due to logical controls contained in the application. Data entry for this survey takes at least 3 months under the existing conditions, and using paper questionnaires. The introduction of CAPI method in the data collection reduces the time required for the production of final indicators, at least for the mentioned period of data entry. This activity will enable the EU-SILC survey data to be available in shorter period of time, and thus ensuring the compliance with the new EU acquis in terms of meeting the deadlines for data release, and in the same time making these data timely for the creation of social policies.
- The United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office (UN RCO), the United Nations Development Program in Montenegro (UNDP), and the UNICEF’s representative office in Montenegro provided a support to the Statistical Office of Montenegro in form of donating IT equipment, as their contribution to more efficient data collection for the Survey on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC). The support in form of 50 laptops will enable MONSTAT staff members to collect and process data more efficiently and quickly.
