Monthly deflation in August was -0.1%, while the annual inflation down to +2.2%

Monthly deflation measured by Consumer price index was -0.1% in August, while the annual inflation down to +2.2%. This was influenced mostly by the decrease in prices of vegetables; fruit; books; solid fuels: oils and fats; confectionery etc.

When observing the main groups monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Recreation and culture (-3.0%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.0%); Restaurants and hotels (-0.3%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.1%); while a growth of prices is recorded in groups: Clothing and footwear (+2.3%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+1.2%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.7%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.6%). Prices in the groups: Health; Transport; Communications and Education remain at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in August were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+7.5%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.5%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+3.7%); Health (+2.5%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.7%); Clothing and footwear (+0.5%); Education (+0.2%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Hotels and restaurants (-4.8%); Recreation and culture (-3.0%); Transport (-2.1%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.4%); Communications (-0.8%).
