Consumer price index (CPI) December 2013

Average annual inflation in 2013 was 2.2%

Consumer prices in Montenegro in December 2013 compared with November of the same year remained at the same level. Consumer prices in December 2013 compared with the same month of previous year were higher for 0.3%. Growth rate of consumer prices in period January-December 2013 compared with the same period of previous year was 2.2%.

When observing the main groups monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups: Clothing and footwear (-0.8%); Recreation and culture (-0.2%); Restaurants and hotels (-0.2%); while a growth of prices is recorded in groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.1%). Prices in the groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages; Alcoholic beverages and tobacco; Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance; Health; Transport; Communications; Education remained at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in December were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+7.4%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+3.0%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+1.7%); Health (+1.4%); Clothing and footwear (+0.3%); Education (+0.2%); Hotels and restaurants (+0.1%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Recreation and culture (-2.7%); Transport (-1.1%); Communications (-0.7%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.6%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.1%).
