19.06.2014Monthly inflation in May was +0.5%
Monthly inflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was +0.5% in May. This was influenced mostly by increase in prices of: vegetables; accommodation services; milk, cheese and eggs; fruit; meat; actual rentals and fish.
When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Restaurants and Hotels (+1.3%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.1%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.7%); Recreation and culture (+0.1%), while a drop of prices was recorded in groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.2%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-0.2%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.1%).
European Union annual inflation was 0.6% in May 2014, down from 0.8% in April, while Euro area annual inflation was 0.5%, down from 0.7% in April. In Montenegro, in May 2014, consumer prices measured by the HICP, compared with the same month last year were lower for -0.7%.
Positive annual inflation rates in May were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+5.3%); Health (+2.2%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+2.0%); Transport (+1.9%); Restaurants and Hotels (+1.4%); Clothing and footwear (+0.3%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.2%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.4%); Recreation and culture (-3.2%); Communications (-3.0%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.9%).
