Quarterly statistics of transport I quarter 2020

Due to the pandemic of the disease COVID-19 in the first quarter of 2020, there was a decline in passenger transport in all modes of transport.

Transport of passengers in the first quarter of 2020, compared to the same quarter of the previous year decreased in rail transport for 19.8%, road transport by 23.5%, local road for 8.7%, the carriage of passengers at airports by 11.0%, scheduled air transport for 23.1% and non scheduled air for 45.9%.

The transport of goods in the first quarter of 2020, compared to the same quarter last year increased on the rail transport for 39.3% and total turnover of goods in ports by 10.2% while decrease registered in transport of goods on the airports by 24.3%.

Number of trans-shipment tonnes in the ports in the first quarter of 2020, compared to the same quarter of the previous year increased by 7.8%, in the manipulated tonnes by 5.6%.

Total number of injury accidents1 on roads in the first quarter 2020 totaled 1 054 which is 12.7% less than the same quarter of previous year. Number of casualies2 in the first quarter 2020 amounted to 496 (of which 486 injuries), which is 1.2% more than the same quarter of previous year.

Number of registered road motor vehicles and trailers in the first quarter 2020 is 46 804 which is a decrease of 4.5% in comparison with the same quarter of previous year. Number of first time registered road motor vehicles and trailers3 in the first quarter 2020 is 4 673 which is a decrease of 7.6% in comparison with the same quater of previous year.

In the first quarter of 2020 road goods motor vehicles transported a 228 thousands tons of goods and performed 24 029 thousand tonne-kilometers. Kilometres travelled by loaded vehicles was 1 001 thousands kilometres. In the structure of transported goods, national transport participates with 92.5% or 211 thousands tons of goods, while international transport participates with 7.5%, or 17 thousands tons of goods. In the structure of performed tonne-kilometers internal transport participates with 68.6% or 16 477 thousands tonne-kilometers and international transport with 31.4% or 7 552 thousands tonne-kilometers.
