In Montenegro there are 30 pre-primary institutions of which 21 institutions are public and 9 are private, with the network of 108 child care units, within which there were organised 489 child care groups.
In school year 2011/2012 there were 14 155 enrolments of children in pre-primary institutions. Of this number, 47% were girls. There is an increase of approx. 4% in number of children enrolled compared with school year 2010/11. In public institutions there were 98% children enrolled.
In public pre-primary institutions an average number of children per child care group is 30, while this average is 14 in private pre-school institutions. The highest average number of children per child care group is in Danilovgrad, and it is 48.
The highest average number of children per child-care worker is in Danilovgrad, and it is 24. Of the total number of employed in the pre-primary institutions, 56% are child-care workers.
