The Census of Population, Households, and Dwellings in Montenegro 2011 collected the data related to economic activity which was carried out by a person in period from 25 to 31 March 2011, i.e. week preceding the census. The response was collected for persons aged 15 years and over, on the basis of statement.

In Montenegro, 232 010 people are active, which is 46% of the total population aged 15 and over. The employment rate is the percentage of employees in the total population aged 15 and over, according to the census is 34.9%. Of the total number of employees 76 688 or 44% were women and 98 483 or 56% were men. The unemployment rate is 24.5%.
