Montenegro State Audit Institution (SAI) confirmed that Statistical Office has successfully implemented all six recommendations from the Performance Audit Report “Efficiency of the Development of Official Statistics in Montenegro”. This confirms significant progress in improving the official statistics system, and its further alignment with European quality standards.

The SAI recommendations were aimed at enhancing the system of planning, coordination, reporting, and quality management within the Development Strategy of Official Statistics.

In order to implement the recommendations, activities were carried out relating to the strengthening of human and institutional capacities, improvement of strategic planning, development of the reporting system, strengthening coordination within the statistical system, and application of the European Statistics Code of Practice and the ESS Quality Assurance Framework.

The particular importance of the implemented activities is reflected in further alignment of the official statistics system with the standards of the European Statistical System (ESS), which represents an important segment of Montenegro’s European Union accession process, especially within negotiating Chapter 18 – Statistics.

The Statistical Office will continue its activities in the coming period aimed at improving quality, transparency, and international comparability of official statistics, in line with European standards and users’ needs.
