14.05.2026Pejovic at IAOS 2026 in Vilnius: Digital Transformation is the Key to the Development of Modern Tourism Statistics
Director of the Statistical Office of Montenegro (MONSTAT), Miroslav Pejovic, participated as a panelist at the international IAOS 2026 Conference, held in Vilnius, Lithuania, within the session “Tourism and New Data Sources”, dedicated to new data sources and the digital transformation of tourism statistics.
During the panel, Pejovic presented Montenegro’s experience and MONSTAT’s activities related to the development of a unified Tourism Information System (TIS), as a strategic solution for improving data management, interoperability between institutions, and the modernization of tourism statistics.
In his presentation, he particularly emphasized the importance of integrating new data sources, strengthening interinstitutional cooperation, and developing interoperable digital systems that enable more accurate, timely, and reliable statistical indicators for the purposes of public policymaking and the development of the tourism sector.
The panel brought together representatives of Eurostat, national statistical institutions, and experts in the fields of official statistics and data management, who discussed the challenges and opportunities arising from the use of new data sources in official statistics.
The IAOS Conference represents one of the most significant international gatherings in the field of official statistics, bringing together representatives of statistical institutions, international organizations, and the academic community from around the world.
