In secondary schools in Montenegro at the beginning of school year 2011/2012 there were 31 914 enrolment of pupils; of those 15 633 are women, i.e. 49%.
The number of pupils enrolled in secondary schools decreased for 1% compared with the previous school year, while the number of pupils enrolled in the first grade of school is lower for 7%.
The highest number of secondary school pupils is in Podgorica, 31%, while there are only 1% of the total number of secondary school pupils in Savnik, Pluzine, and Zabljak.
Observing the field of study, there are 10 443 pupils or 33% in gymnasium; economy, law, and administration 5 309 or 17%; trade, hotels, and tourism 4 891 or 15%; while other fields of study makes 35%.
In secondary schools for children with special educational needs, in Montenegro, 199 pupils were enrolled at the begining of school year 2011/2012, 43% of them being girls.
