Monthly inflation in April increased +0.7%, while the annual inflation is 2.9%


Monthly inflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices increased +0.7% in April. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment, fruit, mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices. Annual inflation in April is +2.9%, and it is higher than in March, when it was +2.1%.

When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Transport (+1.5%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.4%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.6%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (0.6%); Health (+0.3%); Communications (+0.2%); Restaurants and Hotels (+0.2%); Clothing and footwear (+0.1%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.1%); while a decrease in prices is recorded in groups: Miscellaneous goods and services (-1.5%); Recreation and culture (-0.5%). Prices in the group Education remain at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in April were observed in the following groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+15.1%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+8.9%); Health (+4.1%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.3%); Communications (+2.9%); Transport (+2.8%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (+2.1%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.3%); while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups:Clothing and footwear (-2.2%); Recreation and culture (-1.7%); Education (-0.3%); Restaurants and Hotels (-0.2%).
