Primary education in school year 2010/11 attained 8 466 pupils, which presents decrease of 8%, compared to previous school year 2009/10. Primary education applying old educational program completed 2 077 pupils or 25%, and applying new educational program of nine years
primary school 6 389 or 75%. From total number female pupils were 49%.

In primary schools for education of children with special educational needs in school year 2010/11, 40 pupils completed primary school which presents increase by 5% compared to previous school year 2009/10. From that number female pupils were 42%.
