Monthly inflation in July increased +0.5%, while the annual inflation was +5.5%


Monthly inflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices increased +0.5% in July. This was influenced mostly by the increase in prices of accommodation services; telephone and telefax equipment and telephone and telefax services; electricity. Annual inflation in July was +5.5%, and it is higher than in June, when it was +4.4%.

When observing the main groups, monthly growth of prices was noticed in the following groups: Restaurants and Hotels (+5.5%); Communications (+3,6%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+1.4%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.9%); Recreation and culture (+0.8%); Clothing and footwear (+0,5%); Transport (+0.4%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (+0.2%); Health (+0.2%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0,1%), while a decrease in prices is recorded in group Food and non-alcoholic beverages (-2.0%). Prices in the group Education remain at the same level as in the previous month.

Positive annual inflation rates in July were observed in the following groups: Restaurants and Hotels (+16.4%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+10.1%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+8.3%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+7.1%); Communications (+3.9%); Clothing and footwear (+2.7%); Health (+2.2%); Transport (+0.5%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (+0.3%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.2%); while negative annual inflation rate was observed in group Education (-0.2%).
