17.10.2012Monthly deflation in September was -0.1%, while the annual inflation was +4.6%
Monthly deflation measured by Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices was -0.1% in September. This was influenced mostly by the decrease in prices of accommodation services, furniture and furnishings, telephone and telefax equipment, actual rentals paid by tenants and other actual rentals. Annual inflation in September was +4.6%, and it is lower than in August, when it was +5.0%.
When observing the main groups, monthly drop in prices prices was noticed in the following groups: Restaurants and Hotels (-7.0%); Furnishing,household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.3%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-0.8%); Communications (-0.7%); Miscellaneous goods and services (-0.5%); while a growth in prices was recorded in groups: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.1%); Clothing and footwear (+1,9%); Transport (+1.3%). Prices in the groups: Alcoholic beverages and tobacco; Health; Recreation and culture, Education remain at the same level as in the previous month.
Positive annual inflation rates in September were observed in the following groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+9.8%); Restaurants and Hotels (+9.0%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+8.3%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+6.5%); Transport (+3.8%); Communications (+3.2%); Health (+1.4%); Clothing and footwear (+0.5%); Recreation and culture (+0.1%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in groups: Miscellaneous goods and services (-2.4%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.2%).
