Monthly deflation measured by Consumer price index was -0.1% in January, while annual inflation down to +4.2%. This was influenced mostly by the decrease in prices of clothing and footwear; milk, cheese and eggs; non-durable household goods; furniture and furnishings and
tobacco.
When observing the main groups monthly drop of prices was noticed in the following groups:
Clothing and footwear (-2.4%); Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.5%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (-0.4%); Restaurants and hotels (- 0.4%), while a growth of prices is recorded in groups: Transport (+0.6%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+0.3%); Miscellaneous goods and services (+0.3%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+0.1%); Health (+0.1%); Communications (+0.1%); Recreation and culture (+0.1%). Prices in the group Education remain at the same level as in the previous
month.
Positive annual inflation rates in January were observed in the following groups: Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+8.1%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+7.1%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+4.1%); Communications (+3.4%); Recreation and culture (+3.3%);
Hotels and restaurants (+1.8%); Clothing and footwear (+1.4%); Health (+0.9%); Transport (+0.6%), while negative annual inflation rates were observed in the following groups: Furnishing,household equipment and routine household maintenance (-3.0%) and Miscellaneous goods
and services (-2.2%).
