Data for the first quarter of 2025 were estimated based on the results of the 2023 Census of Population, Households and Dwellings in Montenegro, while the data published so far were estimated based on the 2011 Census. This created a break in the data time series, and the data for the first quarter of 2025 are not comparable with the data from previous periods. More detailed information can be found on the website in the section Methodology Labour Force Survey. In order to ensure consistency and comparability of data for the first quarter of 2025 and beyond with already published data for previous years, a data revision will be performed subsequently, bringing data for previous years into line with the results of the 2023 Census.
This release contains the data received through the Labour Force Survey conducted in the first quarter 2025. The interviewing was done in 1 828 households on the territory of Montenegro. There were collected data about demographic characteristics for all members of the households (4 721 persons were surveyed), and, in addition, also data about economic activity for persons aged 15 to 89 (3 969 persons).
According to the data for the first quarter of 2025, there were 304.8 thousand of active populations in Montenegro, out of which there were 270.6 thousand of employed persons, or 88.8%, and 34.2 thousand of unemployed² , or 11.2%. There were 205.0 thousand of persons outside the labour force (15 to 89 years old).
For the persons aged 15 to 89 in the first quarter 2025, activity rate is 59.8%; employment rate is 53.1%; unemployment rate is 11.2%, and population outside the labour force rate is 40.2%.
