Consumer price indices


Prices of goods and services for personal consumption, measured by consumer price index, in August 2026, as compared to July 2026, increased by 1.2% on average. Consumer prices in August 2026, as compared to August 2025, increased by 4.5% on average. This was influenced mostly by increase in prices of: fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment; mobile communication services; accommodation services; vegetables, tubers and pulses; solid fuels; other information and communication services; newspapers and periodicals; restaurants, cafés and the like. Consumer prices in period January-August 2026 compared to the same period of previous year, were higher for 3.5% in average.

Observing the main groups by purpose of consumption, in August 2026 as compared to July 2026, monthly increase of prices was noticed in the following, groups: Transport (5.4%); Information and communication (4.4%); Restaurants and accommodation services (3.1%); Recreation, sport and culture (2.4%); Personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (0.7%); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.6%); Food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.4%); Health (0.3%); Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.2%), while decrease of prices was recorded in the following groups: Clothing and footwear (-3.4%); Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (-1.0%).

Prices of other products and services mostly remained unchanged.
