External trade in goods of Montenegro

The total external trade in goods of Montenegro for january-march 2023 according to preliminary results is 1 034.1 million EUR, indicating the growth of 21.8% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.

The value of exports of goods was 215.3 million EUR, and import was 818.8 million EUR. Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 8.2%, while imports increased by 26.0%.

The coverage of import by export was 26.3% and it was lower compared to the coverage for the same period of the previous year when it was 30.6%.

In the structure of exports, in accordance with the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC), the most present products were Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials (Section 3), in amount of 130.7 million EUR (consisted of Electric current – 126.2 million EUR and other).

In the structure of imports, in accordance with the SITC, the most present products were Machinery and transport equipment (Section 7) with 194.5 million EUR (consisted of: Road vehicles – 64.9 million EUR and other).

Main trading partners in exports on an individual basis were: Serbia (50.5 million EUR), Slovenia (37.8 million EUR) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (35.0 million EUR).

Main trading partners in imports on an individual basis were: Serbia (132.2 million EUR), China (100.8 million EUR) and Germany (76.5 million EUR). The highest external trade was with CEFTA parties and the EU member states.
