Crop production

Agricultural land used in 2025 amounts to 251,404.8 hectares, representing an increase of 1.3% compared to 2024. Within the total utilized agricultural land, permanent meadows and pastures dominate with a share of 92.8%, while arable land accounts for 3.3%, permanent crops 3.7%, and kitchen gardens 0.2%. Compared to 2024, the area of permanent meadows and pastures increased by 1.7%, while a decrease was recorded in kitchen gardens by 31.3% and arable land by 7.3%, whereas permanent crops remained at the same level as in the previous year.

Total maize (corn) production for grain in 2025 amounted to 3,586.2 tonnes, which is 3.6% higher compared to 2024. An increase in production was also recorded for the following crops: beans (by 140.0%), melons (4.6%), and watermelons (by 3.6%).

Compared to 2024, total production increased for apples (by 0.2%), while production decreased for plums, pears, peaches, mandarins and olives.
Total grape production in 2025 increased by 18.8% compared to the previous year.
